SERVICE:

The veteran has served 90 consecutive days in the service, with at least one day during a qualifying war period

DISCHARGE:

The veteran received a discharge other than dishonorable

HEALTH:

The veteran is disabled and unable to work OR 65+ and in need of assistance

The remaining eligibility factors are financial, and can be met through restructuring assets and income.

Please be aware that submission of an application that does not meet

the correct financial criteria can cause a delay of benefits up to 12 months.

Veteran must have served one day active duty during the following periods.

QUALIFIED WAR PERIODS

WORLD WAR II – 12/07/1941 through 12/31/1946

If in service on 12/31/1946 with continuous service before 07/26/1947, this is acceptable as wartime.

KOREAN WAR – 06/27/1950 through 01/31/1955

VIETNAM WAR – “Feet on the ground” in Vietnam from 02/28/1961 through 08/05/1964

Starting 08/06/1964 through 05/07/1975 you did not have to be physically “in country” to

qualify

PERSIAN GULF WAR – 08/02/1990 through (date to be determined)

SURVIVING SPOUSE:

up to $1,153 per month tax-free

SINGLE VETERAN:

up to $1,794 per month tax-free

MARRIED VETERAN:

up to $2,127 per month tax-free
